ambigrams
An ambigram is a word or words lettered so as to be legible from more than one vantage point. The word "ambigrams" above, for instance, exhibits rotational symmetry; it reads the same when turned 180 degrees. Making an ambigram is a stimulating mental exercise of give and take, balancing legibility and symmetry. See the menu to the left for ambigrams I have crafted, many with notes on their inspiration and creation.
